Queensland Government

Queensland Multicultural Month – the state’s largest multicultural celebration – is held in the month of August each year.

Queensland is a multicultural success story and the month presents an opportunity to showcase and celebrate our unique diversity and its benefits. People from across the state join together to perform, share, taste, listen, learn and acknowledge that, while we may come from different cultures, we all love living in Queensland.

This year we will acknowledge the enormous benefits multiculturalism offers Queensland’s culture and prosperity through the following weekly themes:

Week 1
Move: 1–5 August

Get your move and groove on early so you don’t miss out on an amazing and eclectic mix of sporting, recreational and arts activities that will well and truly showcase the state’s unique multicultural diversity in fun and inclusive ways.

Week 2
Connect: 6–12 August

Help to create a more harmonious and peaceful world by making a direct connection with Queenslanders from multicultural communities through a range of activities designed to bring people from all walks of life together to relax, socialise and reflect on our unique heritage and history.

Week 3
Speak: 13–19 August

Speak up and share your languages, your culture and your journey with your fellow Queenslanders to help put the spotlight on Queensland’s inclusive, harmonious and united communities and reaffirm how they are bringing people together in positive and life changing ways.

Week 4
Grow: 20–26 August

There has never been a better time for the state’s business sector to grow a more diverse workforce and support structured career paths for new Queenslanders.

At the same time, find out how you can help nurture the next generation of entrepreneurs and create economic and social opportunities for communities across Queensland.

Multicultural Queensland Charter

The Queensland Government has a vision of a unified, harmonious and inclusive community. The way we will achieve this is through the adoption of the Multicultural Queensland Charter principles.

This vision is shared by Queensland Multicultural Month and the month’s events provide a perfect opportunity to celebrate cultural harmony in communities statewide. The charter’s principles underpin our weekly themes, events and activities.
