On 4 November 2020, the Department of Local Government, Racing and Multicultural Affairs launched a new local government grants information system to manage the administration of departmental grants to councils called eGrants.
This new information system combines previous grants management systems which needed replacing into a single information system. Using eGrants will make it quicker and easier for councils to manage and report on the grants administered by the department. This new system also supports the operational elements of the Grants to Local Government Model.
The commencement of eGrants has minimal impact on councils and will allow sufficient time for councils to familiarise themselves with the system prior to the next round of quarterly reporting. The next round of quarterly reporting is to be completed by the end of January 2021.
During November 2020, the department’s regional advisors are working with all councils to provide training, ongoing support and education about the eGrants system, with reference material also being made available.
Additional system functionality will be released over the coming months, offering increased self-service capability for councils. Further information and training will be provided closer to the release date of these new functions.
Step-by-step guides for councils on how to complete specific functions in the new system are listed below and this page will continue to be updated as more functionality is made available.
