The Show Societies Grants Program (SSGP) is an annual allocation-based funding program of $2 million supporting Show Societies and affiliated organisations throughout Queensland to conduct annual agricultural shows.
The Queensland Government continues to support shows across Queensland by committing additional show society grant funding of $400,000 over a three-year period (2018-19 to 2020-21), bringing total funding for 2019-20 to $2.133 million.
The SSGP provides financial support for operating costs associated with conducting annual agricultural shows, and costs towards the upgrade and maintenance of showground assets.
The current funding allocation is for the period 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020.
2019–20 Shows impacted by COVID-19
The Queensland Government remains committed to keeping Queensland’s communities informed and advised on Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).
As a result, the Department is working closely with the Queensland Chamber of Agricultural Societies to support and address circumstances where a local show is cancelled or postponed because of COVID-19.
For cancelled shows – Show societies who have already expended their 2019-20 SSGP allocation towards the running of their show are able to acquit their grant providing the funds are expended against eligible costs identified in the 2019–20 SSGP guidelines.
For show societies that have held their show and are yet to acquit their 2019–20 SSGP allocation, the Department will be in contact regarding the acquittal process.
